  • For too long, we have taken the easy way out by shipping our excess recyclables to China. Instead, we should be investing in new technologies that can better sort and process recyclable waste and building a market for these materials so that it is economically unwise to send them to a landfill. We must also design products to be less wasteful and continue to foster responsible consumer behavior.
  • Voting someone into office that will emphasize the effects of plastics in our environment can ultimately help pushing more laws out against the public to lessen/eventually ban plastic use to stop the destruction of our land
  • If you vote for someone who is not for the environment then this fast paced production of plastics will continue to harm the earth and our environment and the issues will only get worse
  • Voting law makers in can help provide rules and regulations about plastic usage and even help work with companies to switch to alternatives or completely ban its usage as well.
  • We need to pressure governments and local officials to do better when it comes to the management of plastic waste. More developed countries need to realize that this is a problem impacting all of us and do more to help countries without the capacity or infrastructure to deal with their waste.
  • We need to push for an international framework on plastic pollution that includes protocols on the production and life cycle of plastics to ensure that it doesn’t make its way into the environment, and we ultimately produce less waste.
  • Most of our plastics are made so they don't break down but that posses a huge threat to our environment and animals/ These plastics are less expensive to make then actual recyclable plastics but we need to push manufacturers to start using those expenses for the betterment of our environment.
